A bit about ourselves:
|
Vahishtai Daboo
I am an Auditory Verbal Therapist and have been practicing for over 7 years. I teach babies and children to ‘Listen & Speak’ by developing their speech & language and integrate them into the mainstream. I have done a certificate course in ‘Auditory Verbal Therapy’ which was conducted by Cochlear & Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for the Hearing Handicapped and my B.Ed. (Hearing Impairment) and have been trained by several leading national and international experts in the field of hearing impairment and on various aspects of Habilitation.
My deep involvement in this field began 13 years ago, as a parent, whose child had been diagnosed with a profound hearing impairment at the age of one month.
The idea to start a parent support group first came to mind during my visit to the Alexander Graham Bell Convention in USA 2004, where I met with and interacted with Ms. Joanne Travers of 'Partners of a Greater Voice' (a parent support group in USA).
