An interactive session was held with the personnel from Cochlear Company and Pika Medical, to address and resolve various issues and problems that we are facing with their products and services. The outcome of the interaction was very beneficial, as parents were able to directly address their grievances to the company and cognisance was to taken, to work on effective measures to resolve the same. |

Parents of VConnect Foundation had a very interesting and informative interactive session with Dr. Milind Kirtane, Renowned ENT Surgeon & An expert in Cochlear Implant surgeries. They had the oppurtunity to discuss and interact with Dr. Kirtane, on various topics from pre Cochlear Implant surgery to post implants, bilateral implants, new inventions, new designs of Cochlear implants, etc. Dr. Kirtane has performed more than 700 successful Cochlear Implant surgeries to date. It was a great honour that he was able to make time for us from his extremely busy schedule. |

An interactive workshop on 'Auditory Verbal Therapy & Habilitation' was conducted by Ms. Jaspal Chowdhry, Cert. AVT®, Paediatric Habilitation Specialist South Asia, Cochlear Limited. Jaspal is an expert in the field of hearing impairment and has been working in this field for over twenty five years. She is the only AVT certified therapist so far in South Asia. The workshop was an extremely well conducted workshop, very informative, interactive and inspiring for each and every parent. |

A talent evening was organized where individual children with hearing impairment (all the Vconnect Foundation children) performed on stage to show their talent in music, dancing, jokes, poems, singing, playing an instrument, etc. Radio Club. |

An interactive workshop on Genetic Counselling by Dr. Hema Purandhare a renowned expert in the field of genetics, at Saifee Hospital for the VConnect parent members. It was a very informative and inspiring workshop; and appreciated by all the parents. |

A Dental Camp was conducted by Dr. Harsh Vyas a renowned Paediatric Dentist at his clinic for VConnect Foundation members. The follow up for the children who require dental treatment will now be done on an individual basis. |

VConnect Foundation completed a year of existence and celebrated the 1st Anniversary by holding a Children's Party at Radio Club. The party was very well attended by a large number of children with hearing impairment and their families. Ms. Arzan Dhunboora entertained the children with a lot of fun, games and music. The event was supported by; Cochlear-Pika Medical. |

A workshop on 'Evolving Attitudes', encouraging your child to listen and speak by Dr. Morag Clark (MBE), former Principal of Birkdale School for Hearing Impaired Children in England. Dr. Clark is an overseas advisor for Developmental Programmes for children with a hearing loss in 14 different countries around the world. The workshop was organized by AURED, Saifee Hospital and VConnect Foundation. It was conducted at Saifee Hospital and was very well attended by parents. |

Intervention & Habilitation' by Ms. Aziza Tyabji Hydari an expert and one of the pioneers in the Auditory Verbal Approach in India. Aziza Tyabji Hydari did her post-graduation certification course for Teacher of the deaf, recognised by The Commonwealth Society for the Deaf, London, in 1969. After several years of teaching in various institutes, she established AURED in 1986, and The AURED Charitable Trust, to support AURED, in 1991. Her aim has always been to ensure that every deaf child has the opportunity to develop oral communication skills, which eventually helps them to integrate into the mainstream. She is one of the pioneers to bring Auditory Verbal Therapy in India. The AURED outreach programme has been extended to over 5000 hearing impaired children, and the efforts of a committed staff has made this possible. |

Parenting & Behaviour Management of Children' by Dr. Pervin Dadachanji.
Dr. Dadachanji is a consultant psychiatrist with a special interest in child and adolescent psychiatry. She completed her M.D. (Psychological Medicine) from KEM Hospital, Mumbai. Since 1994 she is in private practice. She deals with children and adolescents with emotional and behavioural problems. She has held parenting workshops for different age groups of children at her clinic and in various schools in Mumbai. She also holds sex education talks for children and adolescents. In these years she has been giving lectures to school teachers, college students and general physicians on various mental health issues. She has also written for various parenting sites on the internet. She lives in Mumbai with her husband Daraius and their two children. Her son Rehan is thirteen and her daughter Roshni is eleven. She has always maintained that she has made her mistakes (and continues to do so) just like every body else while bringing up her children. But truly believes that parenthood has been one of the most fulfilling experiences in her life.
